Full-day excursion to El Chalten, Laguna de los Tres.jpg

FD Fitz Roy, Laguna de los Tres.

This trekking circuit is considered the main route for all travelers. It is one of the most beautiful and impressive in the area, taking us to the foot of the legendary Mount Fitz Roy. After the pickups, we head to the trailhead, located 18 km from El Chaltén. Upon reaching the Rio Blanco, the activity begins. We enter a lenga and ñire forest with some gentle slopes. After just an hour and a quarter of hiking, we are surprised by our first viewpoint with an excellent view of the Piedras Blancas Glacier. Very close by, we cross the river via a suspension bridge to reach the "Río Blanco" Base Camp. From this point, for those with more energy, the guide will take us to the Laguna de los Tres Viewpoint, which, starting from Río Blanco, is 500 meters in elevation, an additional hour of trekking. From this viewpoint, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Fitz Roy Massif, the lagoon, and its glaciers. A few meters away, you can also discover an excellent view of Laguna Sucia. After lunch there, return to El Chaltén along the trail that passes through the Laguna Capri Viewpoint.

Another must-see, it ends with a beautiful view of one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the world, Cerro Torre. The trail begins in the town itself, with a gentle slope for the first few minutes, always following the course of the Fitz Roy River. After a 20-minute hike, you'll be able to see the Fitz Roy River Canyon and admire beautiful waterfalls like Margarita Waterfall. From here, you already have beautiful views of Cerro Torre. You then reach the first viewpoint, which is ideal for your first rest stop (just 1.5 hours from El Chaltén), where you can admire not only Cerro Torre, but also its glaciers and the Cordón de las Adelas mountain range. Returning to Chaltén from this viewpoint, it would be a three-hour trek, ideal for singles or groups looking to engage in short activities. After this, you hike (approximately another hour) through a beautiful valley with few undulations until you reach De Agostini Base Camp, where elite mountaineers from all over the world are sure to be waiting to climb Torre. You continue hiking for a few more minutes to reach Laguna Torre, with a magnificent view of the Torre Mountain, flanked by the Egger, Standhardt, and Bífida peaks, and the Cordón de las Adelas range, with its impressive glaciers spilling into the lagoon. Then you begin the return journey along the same path.

Note: If passengers have the energy, they can extend their visit from Laguna Torre to the “Mirador Maestri”, which will take 2 more kilometers of walking, 45 minutes longer, bordering the lagoon until reaching the limit of vegetation, which forms a natural balcony with a spectacular panoramic view of the Glacier and Laguna Torre.
