In the farthest corner of the continent lies the majestic Beagle Channel. This maritime strait connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, separating the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego from a group of smaller islands. Its history is marked by exploration: it owes its name to HMS Beagle, the ship that carried Charles Darwin on his legendary voyage across South America. For centuries, the Beagle Channel was inhabited by the indigenous Yámana or Yaganes peoples, expert navigators who sailed its cold waters in bark canoes. Later, with the arrival of European expeditions, the strait became a strategic point for navigation and trade. Its importance also lies in the role it plays today in tourism and wildlife conservation in the region.
